Elder Scott Anderson

Mission: Peru Cusco Mission (Sep 2025 - Sep 2027)

Scott has been transferred out of the Amazon jungle to Puno, a beautiful town set high on a hillside. On the way he got to fly to Cusco for zone conference, which is always a highlight. He's excited about his new area — it's home to one of the strongest wards in the mission, with members he already loves. His new companion warned him up front that he snores and promptly bought him a set of earplugs. Even in the middle of so much change, Scott keeps finding the humor and the good in each day.A story worth sharing
In church this week Scott studied the account of Elijah and the widow of Zarephath (1 Kings 17). In the middle of a long famine, the Lord sent Elijah to a poor widow who had only enough flour and oil for one last meal for herself and her son. Elijah asked her to make him a small loaf first, promising that her barrel of meal and cruse of oil would not run dry until the Lord sent rain. She trusted, made the sacrifice, and the promise was fulfilled — there was always enough. Scott loves how this story shows that the sacrifices we make for God — whether of time, means, or something else — truly matter, and that the Lord always keeps His side of the promise.Quotes

Elder Isaac Ortega

This is a local family & friends of Elder Ortega and Elder Allen (from Logan, UT) who he trained and love working with the ward’s primary kids who bring friends to church every week.Update
Isaac was recently transferred to the capital city of Chaco just before Thanksgiving. His new companion is Elder Teixeira from Brazil, who speaks only Portuguese and is brand new and is being trained. He really enjoys training and this area was recently vacated by both missionaries, so he has enjoyed working hard finding new friends from a clean wash of the area.Quotes

Elder Jake Skinner

Mission: Bolivia Cochabamba North Mission

Jake continues to serve in Bolivia, where lately he has been studying deeply about the Holy Ghost — how to listen to Him better and invite His presence into every part of life. He treasures that gift and wants it woven through everything he does. Inspired by President Thomas S. Monson's example of always being "on the Lord's errand," Jake has been praying for more chances to do good and to be the Lord's hands for the people around him.A story worth sharing
On an exchange with his zone leader, Jake found they could laugh and have a blast together while every single contact was still guided by the Spirit. One man stepped out of his house and called them over — he had just prayed, telling God he was done living the way he was and asking for a sign. Jake and his companion taught him that real, lasting change is possible through Jesus Christ, and the man wept as they assured him he was part of God's family. Later, another man blasting music admitted he was lonely and drank to hide the pain. Jake hugged him and shared the Savior's promise in John 14:27 — "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you" — testifying that true peace is found not in the world but in Christ.Jake shared advice from his dad: when you see a need and think "somebody should do something about that," choose in that moment to be that "somebody." He paired it with a teaching from President Henry B. Eyring: "When you meet someone, treat them as if they were in serious trouble, and you will be right more than half the time."Quote

Elder Aiden Johnson

Mission: Colombia Cali Mission

Aiden has been serving in Tuluá, where he's witnessed miracle after miracle. He helped a couple he'd taught for a month set a marriage date and prepare for baptism — a joy made sweeter by watching them grow since the day he first met them in the park. His testimony of the Book of Mormon is the anchor of his message; he encourages everyone to read it, study it, and ponder it daily.One of his favorite experiences shows how the Lord reaches people in unexpected ways. Aiden and his companion sat down in a restaurant to teach someone who, in the end, wasn't ready to accept a baptismal date — but the restaurant owner had been quietly listening the whole time. Aiden watched him take in every word. Before they left, they invited the owner to learn more. He said yes, accepted a Book of Mormon, came to church, and now wants to be baptized.Quote

Elder Matthew Stewart

Now settled in Podgorica, Matthew has had a couple of quieter weeks — between the summer heat, holidays, and tourist season the work slowed down, but he and his companions still saw miracles as they met with friends and listened to their experiences. For part of one week he was on splits with Elder Buck while his companion Elder Erickson was away for exchanges and mission leadership council, and the two of them worked well together. Matthew is grateful for the friends they are teaching right now, including a family he hopes can be baptized soon and a man whose humility and meekness inspire him. He simply loves teaching the gospel and being lifted by the testimonies others are gaining.A story worth sharing
Matthew has been reflecting on a teaching from Elder Neal A. Maxwell about pressing forward "in hope" — that with the help of the Holy Ghost we can access the blessings of the Savior's "astonishing Atonement, which He provided for us at such a stunning cost." Everyone, Matthew notes, carries something that challenges them, and he testifies that with the Savior we can work through it. It won't always be painless, and we won't always feel strong — but when we tremble under the weight, we can turn to the Savior and ask for His strength, and He will lift us up. He also loves Psalm 19:7 and the joy of watching friends fall in love with the simple, saving truths of the gospel.Quote

Trevin reports a good week in Texas — even as he keeps getting used to the heat and the bug bites! He and his companion attended the baptism of a friend named Iyslie, helped out at a Primary camp where the kids made lanterns, and have been teaching a friend who loves gardening and dreams of becoming a firefighter/EMT. Their friend gave them a tour of his garden (turkeys included!) and enjoyed coming to church with them.It's the simple, steady moments that fill his weeks — service, new friends, and watching the gospel take root in people's lives one visit at a time. He's grateful for all the support, kindness, and love from home.Quote

Sister Emma Hodgman

Sister Hodgman's first letters from the field are here, and she is bursting with joy! The best news of all: a dear friend named Bethany, whom she met through a friend in her ward, is preparing to be baptized on July 5th. Bethany just graduated and was eager to learn about the gospel from the moment they met — and Sister Hodgman can't wait for her baptism.It hasn't all been smooth sailing — one week included a flooded apartment and a trip to urgent care — but as she put it, the week still ended with "the best Sunday ever." She also shared how much she loves the hymn "More Holiness Give Me," and its invitation to keep striving to become more like the Savior: "More faith in my Savior... More joy in his service, More purpose in prayer."Quote
