Scott arrived in Peru on Tuesday, Oct 21 after completing his MTC in Mexico City (and after a flight mishap in which there was initially no connecting from Lima to Cusco). His companion is Elder Hilarion from Argentina, who speaks only Spanish and is serving as the Zone leader.Quotes
His first impressions of church services in Juliaca: "The members are super nice and all the kids like to make fun of me because I can barely talk to them. One of the youth that hangs out with us a lot is named Lois. He is 16 and is super good at soccer. Church [atmosphere] was pretty different too. It is pretty chaotic in the chapel with all the kids running around and a stray dog coming in and checking out the church."
How the work is going: “We also are going to have a busy week because we have 7 baptisms set up for this weekend.”
“It’s almost the end of the transfer and Elder Hilarion is going to be leaving to go to a different area. It will be sad not to be able to hang out with Hilarion anymore for sure. He’s pretty sad to leave also because he’s grown so close with all the members and he’s been here for around 4 months.”Photo

Elder Isaac Ortega

This is a local family & friends of Elder Ortega and Elder Allen (from Logan, UT) who he trained and love working with the ward’s primary kids who bring friends to church every week.Update
Isaac was recently transferred to the capital city of Chaco just before Thanksgiving. His new companion is Elder Teixeira from Brazil, who speaks only Portuguese and is brand new and is being trained. He really enjoys training and this area was recently vacated by both missionaries, so he has enjoyed working hard finding new friends from a clean wash of the area.Quotes
How the work is going?
“We found 16 new friends this past week and 16 more this week - - it is awesome to work.”“We have received 80+ missionaries over the last 6 months, so it is fun to see all the new missionaries and the excitement that they bring.”
